In Oeiras we stayed with our friends Manuela and Adelino as usual. We spend lots of time eating and drinking. Their rooftop apartment overlooking the Tagus River is the ideal place for catching up with all the news since our last trip.

We had a great walk along the coast in Passeio Marítimo de Oeiras a nice track along the beach. Lots and lots of people walk and jog along the track. The views are beautiful as you can see from the photos.

When we go to Lisbon we can't let pass a visit to Belém with its tower, Jerónimos Monastery and the famous Pasteis de Belém (Portuguese tarts)

We spent a full day just walking around Belém and soaking the atmosphere so full of history and after we had enough of history we gorged ourselves with Pasteis de Belém.

A visit to Cascais and the Guia areas sould be included in the turistic plans of everyone. Being one of the posh areas of the region one can admire the great mansions and obviously the great coastal sceneries.

We included the visit to the área in our last days before we left to Australia. In one of the local markets we found the traditional drink Ginginha (cherry liqueur) served in chocolate cups... obviously he had to have one...or three of them.

During our stay in Portugal it was my niece Cláudia's birthday. My nieces Cláudia e Vânia (my sister's daughters) are a very busy bunch and we always have problems in getting together.

This time we got the family together for dinner at Vânia's house in the outskirts of Lisbon.
