This section includes family photos and some aspects of the city of São Paulo captured during the holidays.

When you plan to visit the city and tell someone about it, invariably you only get references to how dangerous the city is, no matter whether you talk to Brazilians (the worse of the lot) or foreigners. If you refer to the local media the picture you get is not any different.

Everyone tries to tell you all the gory details of something that someone they know suffered. This doesn’t mean that there is no horrific stories about São Paulo. Yes there are and we have friends and family that experienced things that no one should ever experience.

The people are friendly but you need to take care because in a lot of cases (I don’t like to use the term majority here because to generalise when referring to people is incorrect) a Brazilian will try to take advantage of you. They call it the “Jeitinho Brasileiro” which means that they always attempt to make a buck out of any situation.

In the many visits I made to the city I have the advantage of having family and friends that show me around and obviously tell about the risks that I need to manage when walking around the city.

No doubts you need to be careful when visiting São Paulo and you should always check with a local person before you visit a new area.

However when you look around you find a beautiful city with lots of interesting places to visit. Therefore I collected a series of photos taken during my trips around the city to show you samples of the architecture and try to convey some sense of the enormity and beauty of this city.
