It was in this shop that we learnt about the Port Arthur massacre. On 28 April 1996 Martin Bryant killed 35 people and wounded 21 in Port Arthur and we were visiting Stanley with my Parents when this shop owner told us what was happening. No one believed that this was possible in Tasmania but unfortunately it was true.
