Between Xmas and New Year we did two trips to the south of Tasmania: Tahune Forest Airwalk and Bruny Island.

The Tahune Forest Airwalk is an interesting place where you can walk through the three-storey high canopy of a Tasmanian wet forest. The Tahune AirWalk extends for 597 metres and the highlight is a cantilever section over the confluence of the Picton and Huon rivers and a beautiful view of the Hartz Mountains.

The tree species that one can encounter in the forest include tall eucalypts, celery top, King Billy pine, Blackwood, sassafras, beech, myrtle, flowering leatherwood and the gigantic Huon pines dating back over 1000 years. There are several other attractions in the area such as the swinging bridges over the Huon and Picton rivers and the Eagle Glide Hang Gliding over the Huon River.

From there we travelled to the southmost point in Tasmania: Southport.
