The Bogd Khaan Palace consists of seven Summer Prayer temples and the Winter Palace. The Winter Palace was built as a two-storey European house designed by a Russian architect. The Manchu Emperor was not happy with it and they added a few Buddhist ornaments to make the building more like a Buddhist temple. A collection of Mongolia’s political, religious and artistic history from the 17th to earlier 20th century are displayed in the buildings of the museum in particular the Winter Palace. The objects were used by the Khaan when he was a kid, as a leader of Mongolia and by his wife Queen Dondogdulam.
