São Paulo was our last etape in the Brazilian leg of our holidays. We drove the 500 km from Pontal do Sul and arrived in São Paulo just in time to celebrate Mother’s Day, 9th May. Our cousins Clara and Rosa showed us a side of São Paulo that contradicts all the bad things we heard about this beautiful and enormous city.
For sure the traffic is a nightmare but what can you expect from a city of 12 million with another 18 million living in the surrounding areas and potentially travelling to the city at peak times. However the streets are well signed and once you understand the layout of the place it is not any different than driving in any big city…try Lisbon, Rome or Manila and tell me the difference…of course you need to discount the trucks and the motoqueiros (motorcycle riders) from São Paulo.
We had another family reunion this time with Filu’s family and provide Filu the opportunity to do some shopping, thing that she was dying for since we arrived in Brazil.
