We attended two opera concerts in Beijing during our holidays. The first one was hard to follow as we were separated from Karin and Wei and could not read the script, but it would have been the same if we were in Italy watching an unknown classic opera. We were guests of the Producer and met some of the organisers during drinks on the interlude (I could not say interval in an opera. Too banal). The highlight of this event was the way we traveled to it… not very operatic, but fun!!!
The second concert was a classic piece telling the story of the travel, through music, of the Buddhist translator Xuanzang. His travels inspired one of the best-known works of Chinese literature, Journey to the West. This time we sat next to Wei and he guided us through the scenes. We thoroughly enjoyed.
