Our friends Karin and Wei have been inviting us to spend holidays with them in China for quite some time. Initialy we planned to take advantage of my trips to Mongolia for work, stop over in Beijing on the way back to Australia and Filomena would meet me there.
However coordinating the dates with my work in Mongolia and Filomena's return from Portugal became dificult. We then decided that the two of us would return to Australia and plan the China trip from there and this was what we did.
We organised our holidays to include 3 weeks in China and on our return stopover for a few days in Macau where we still have many friends
Karin organised our holidays in China to a degree that we never had in our previous holidays. Everything went like clockwork and we now have a different appreciation of the China today as against the impressions we had from living in Macau and travelling to the south provinces almost 40 years ago.
With their knowledge and passion for the life, culture and history of China they organised visits to places that no normal tourist ever dreams of. We had a wonderful time with them and have no words to express our thanks to such extraordinary hosts.
On our return home we stopped in Macau and had another whale of a time with our friends in a place that is so close to our hearts.
