Across the road from the museum, a shopping centre was advertising this Korean restaurant and I decided to go for lunch. I had a very nice grilled pork, miso soup and obviously in Mongolia you drink Genghis beer.
After the meal I went to pay … Oh my God I forgot the wallet in the hotel .
Just imagine… you don’t speak Mongolian and the people in the restaurant are not fluent at English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, Ganguela… and you are trying to tell them that your forgot the wallet in the hotel and swear to God and every saint in heaven that you will run to the hotel and bring the money to pay. It was not working and I could see myself in a Mongolian Police station. I then decided to try another approach. I offered them my camera while I would rush to the hotel and bring the wallet. They understood and let me go . Very embarrassed I returned an hour later, paid the bill and rescue my camera with the photos of the Silk Road caravan. Second time I have to rescue my camera although this time not as dramatic as the first one.
