My visit to Dubai was a very short business trip. I was invited by Marcus Evans, an events organising company in England to present a paper in an Electrical Engineering Forum in Dubai on 17 and 18th of May.

They want me to talk about Reliability Assessment of High Voltage systems, a program that I implemented in Rio Tinto. Someone from Marcus Evans attended a conference in Australia where I presented a similar paper and obviously they were sufficiently impressed to invite me to Dubai.

I flew to Dubai from Lisbon on Sunday 17th, presented on 18th and flew back to Lisbon on 19th at 2 in the morning. I only had a couple of hours after the conference finished to see some of the famous sights of Dubai. I got a taxi in the hotel and asked him to take me to the famous hotel in New Dubai, the palm tree shape development and the Atlantis Hotel. I was so tired at the end of the conference that I felt like spewing in the taxi and cut my sight seeing tour short and returned to the hotel where I had took a short nap before going to the airport. Below are some photos that would give you a glimpse of my glimpse of Dubai.
