The main gate of the Lost City. A plaque explains why the Sun City and it says:
Long ago a tribe of enlightened and artistic nomads left their home in the north of Africa coast and wandered down the continent searching for a land that had appeared to their king in a dream.
When they came upon the Valley of the Sun, they knew this was the place. Benevolent climate, abundant game, fertile soil, mineral wealth, fresh water springs flowing into rivers and lakes.
The valley became the cradle of their new civilisation. For generations they mined diamonds and gold. They hunted and fished. They domesticated animals and planted crops. They trade far and wide. They built bridges, aquaducts and a city crowned with a magnificent palace for their royalty. They cultivated a rich life of the mind, body and spirit, and they dwelled in harmony with the earth.
They immortalised the History of the tribe and the city in their buildings and monuments. Then one day, without warning, their world came to an end. The sky grew dark, hot winds seared the valley. Animals fled into the forest. Everything was still. Then a might earthquake ripped the valley apart, building and bridges fell, mines collapsed. The earth opened and the waters of the lakes disappeared into the fissures.
When it was over, those not lost in the cataclysm left the valley forever, believing their paradise cursed. Today the ruins the legends and the watercourses have been turned into a magical playground and the great palace restored to a grandeur that even surpasses the ancient original.
