The beautiful Polly Woodside tall ship built in 1885 in Belfast and sailed all around the world. In 1904 it was sold to a New Zealand firm that renamed it Rona and operated mainly between Australia and New Zealand. With the advent of the steamships the ship had its masts removed and used as a coal lighter. During the Second World War it was requisitioned by the Royal Australian Navy and used as a refueling barge. In 1968 the ship was sold to the National Trust of Australia for one cent. In 1972 the ship was restaured to its original shape by a group of volunteers and placed in the museum where it now enjoys the highest level of State Heritage Protection.
